Rave Reviews for Sherlock Holmes and the Other Woman

Format: Paperback

This is my first time reading Geri Schear’s work and it came highly recommended, it did not disappoint at all! Twists and turns like you wouldn’t believe, truly captivated me! I lost most of my day in this book, point blank refused to put it down. Purposefully trying to remain spoiler free but ghosts, myths and murder wrapped in Holmes’ opinion of women is an absolute joy to read. Made me want to seek out the rest of her work 🙂

It is with great sadness that I have just finished ‘Sherlock Holmes & the Other Woman’. To say I am in mourning would be an understatement. I loved this book from the very first page. The story, is beautifully paced, filled with twists & turns in every chapter. In addition to the protagonist & his sidekick Watson, there is an abundance of other richly complex and mesmerising characters who make an appearance, which only serves to make the story all the more intriguing. 19th century London spectacularly comes to life and literally jumps off the pages at you, so much so, you believe yourself to be immersed in it and can almost hear the London accents and see the ‘Pea Souper’ fog. The author has obviously done her homework; the non-fictional aspects of the book are captivating, well researched and beguilingly factual. The relationship between Holmes & his nemesis makes Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton’s current escapades seem amateurish in comparison. Each chapter takes you on a rollercoaster ride of emotion. Leaving you wanting more and hoping as I do, that a sequel is in the pipeline. This book does not disappoint. If the ‘other woman’ was a creation of the author’s, she was a spectacular invention; it makes me wonder how many other eccentric, fantastical & magnificent characters await me next time…..

This is Geri Schear’s follow up to A Biased Judgment – and an excellent follow up it is. She has captured the tone of Arthur Conan Doyle’s style and brought Victorian London to life. The plot is intriguing; it twists and turns leading to a very clever and satisfying ending. I think you’ll get most out of The Other Woman if you’ve read A Biased Judgment first, but even if not I recommend it for an enthralling read.

Excellent second Sherlock novel from this author. The text draws you into another world in a different time. It set after the first novel, but does not rely on knowing the previous story. I found it hard t put the book down as I wanted to know what happen next. I was certain I knew how it was going to end. Of course, as with most good writers, I was wrong. The clues were there, but I missed them and went with, to me, a more obvious resolution.
I understand a third book is on the way, can’t wait.
