It’s all systems go for the launch of the splendid, record-breaking new collection of Sherlock Holmes tales. The MX Book of New Sherlock Holmes Stories in three volumes will be released on October 1st.
The brainchild (or should that be brain-children, since it’s in three volumes?) of renowned Holmes’ author David Marcum, this is the collection is the largest of its kind ever released. All the stories were written specifically for the book and are by some of the greatest Sherlock Holmes writers around. I’d point out that my own contribution Harbinger of Death appears in Volume III, but… my blushes, Watson!
The collection will be launched from the stunning 35th Floor of Heron Tower. This has one of the largest balconies at that height anywhere in Europe — I’m dizzy just thinking about it! — and is one of the most sought after event venues in London. It was donated for the purpose by Powa Technologies in support of the Undershaw restoration project. As I’ve posted here before, all proceeds from the book go directly to the fund to restore Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s former home.
The confirmed guests at the event include representatives from BBC Sherlock; members of the Conan Doyle family; members of Sherlock Holmes societies from around the world including London, France and India; and several of the contributing authors, including Bonnie MacBird, Wendy Fries, Mark Mower and Luke Kuhns.
In addition, there will be ten tickets set aside for lucky Sherlock fans to win, as well as other goodies. The competition is open to Sherlock Holmes fans worldwide. Here are the prizes:
a) Ten places at the Sherlock Holmes Collection launch
b) A signed and framed piece of wallpaper from the set of BBC Sherlock (as featured in the above picture)
c) A set of lessons in deduction from ‘The Deductionist’ Ben Cardall (delivered over Skype so available to all).
d) A hardback set of the new collection
